I'm Wayne B. Farquharson — Founder of Farbo Fire Safety Consultants, a boutique fire safety consultancy in Kingston, Jamaica. Before building this practice, I spent 27 years (Oct 1990 – Aug 2005) rising through the Jamaica Fire Brigade's Fire Prevention Division, ultimately serving as Senior Deputy Superintendent and Deputy Chief Fire Safety Officer.

My track record:

• ~15,600 building plans reviewed island-wide

• ~4,800 buildings inspected across all occupancy types

• ~21,604 fire safety systems designed to international standards

• 1,200+ training sessions delivered to the hotel sector

• ~600 Fire Prevention Specialists trained

 

Systems I built that are still in use today:
I introduced international codes as the foundation for Jamaica's building plan approval and fire certification process. I also created the Annual Fire Safety Awareness Week, the National Fire Hydrant Maintenance Program, the EMS framework within the Fire Service, and the Fire Prevention Training Manual still used by firefighters today.

Since 1992, I've served as a Technical Member of the Bureau of Standards Jamaica Building Code Review Committee (Fire Aspect). Affiliate Individual Member, Institution of Fire Engineers, UK.

Norman Manley International Airport, Independence Park National Stadium (World Junior Athletics Championship), Sandals Whitehouse, Beaches Boscobel, Portmore Mall, and the Transport Center, Half Way Tree.

I've also worked and trained internationally across Germany, Singapore, the US, and the Cayman Islands.
